News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on February 1, 2006 Press release from Barnardo's Cherie Booth QC, attended this year's Toy Fair on Saturday, January 28, on behalf of Barnardo's, the charity of which she is president. Barnardo's has been the chosen charity of the Toy Fair for the past two years and the charity even held a stand at this year's event, at the Excel centre in London's Docklands - allowing the charity to raise awareness of its work and network with the toy manufacturers and retailers who attend the show. As a result of Barnardo's association with the Toy Fair, the charity has forged links with Corgi Classics and Hasbro Play Doh (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year), who have both pledged sponsorship funds for Barnardo's campaigns in 2006. Furthermore volunteers were invited to do a fantastic 'trolley dash' at the end of the fair, collecting as many toys and games as they could, to sell in Barnardo's stores nationwide, helping to raise vital funds for disadvantaged children across the UK. Andrew Nebel, Director of Marketing & Communications at Barnardo's, explains; "We're grateful to the organisers of Toy Fair for selecting Barnardo's as their chosen charity of the year for the second year running. We would like to thank Corgi Classics and Hasbro Play Doh for their pledge to support our vital work with vulnerable children and young people." Source - Barnardo's
