Adoption Diary

Week 32

It is incredible to think our children have been with us for such a short spell of time, they have settled in so well and you would think they had lived with us for much, much longer.

They have begun to meet their new grandparents and aunts and uncles which has been nice as it has made the family feel more real and more integrated.

They have had so many presents from people, I have felt very touched as friends of family who haven't even met me or Harry have sent things, people have been so generous and so kind.

I have started to do a book about the introductions for them, a little paragraph about each day and then lots of photographs, I would really recommend taking loads of photos as it does remind you of the day and conjures up the spirit and emotions. With so much to remember and to take in it is easy to forget the little things that the children have said and how you have felt.

I would also recommend a diary as you can make a note of significant things that happened each day to help you to remember and for your children to read one day.

I have also kept first paintings and pictures, cards, school newsletter, anything that I can add to the book to tell the children about.

The first few days went by in a flash, it was very exciting and we did lots of activities together, but now that Katy and Ben have been with us a few weeks I have to say that Harry and I feel more comfortable and settled, we are starting to feel comfortable and more like a family each day that goes by. The love is also growing each day that goes by.

Katy and Ben are wonderful, wonderful children, so warm and funny and very caring and gentle, they laugh so much and love to play together!!!!!

I still can't believe that we are a family at last.
