Adoption Diary

Week 33

Holiday time

Katy and Ben are settling in more and more as the days go by, they seem so happy and comfortable. For us it is hard to imagine how life was without them, they are such lovely children, they really make us laugh and we have such fun with them.

They are sleeping well but sometimes cry out at night and I imagine that this is connected to the trauma they feel having been separated from their birth mum and moving on from their foster carers.

The whole family have fallen for them, they adore them and love to spend time with them, this is wonderful because I had wondered how some family members would feel and view our son and daughter but now that they have arrived they are so taken with them and any worries and concerns seem to have dispersed.

We are due to write a letter soon to our children's birth mum and dad, I have been reading up about how to do this as it is such a hard letter to write as we have known them for so little time and also I want to make sure that the tone is appropriate in terms of being friendly but not upsetting their birth parents by being insensitive.

Katy and Ben love to look through the "family intro" book we did and shriek with delight when they see the rooms and the cats because they recognise them, it is so lovely and I feel comforted that they feel so positive when they look through. I am sure this is a good sign that they are settled.

I have been looking at holidays for us, we want to go somewhere which isn't too far away from where we live because we don't feel a really long journey would be a good idea. Plus we want somewhere family friendly with lots to do, the Haven and Hoseasons Caravans seem a good idea so I am going to try and find out a bit more, their websites do make them seem ideal but of course you can't always believe what you read!!!! I am going to miss my chilling out week in Spain or Italy this year!!!!!!

Well, that is all I can think to tell you this time, the sun is out so I am going to go and catch the last rays before I settle in for the night.
