News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on May 4, 2004 Diary of an adopter - week 14 It's nice to see some better weather finally arrive. Since my last diary I haven't been up to very much. I have bought even more children's book so I am really hoping that my son or daughter will like to read!!!!!!!!!!! I have also been trawling the Internet for adoption forums where I can link with others who are involved in the adoption world. It has been very interesting, there are so many sites with a wealth of information and I've found it very helpful to gain an insight into how others involved in adoption feel. There are some lovely, friendly people in the forums that are supportive and willing to share their thoughts and feelings. But, I must stress a word of warning about this, I stumbled across an anti-adoption site without realising and what I read there really upset me. The strength of feeling on this site was overwhelming and really quite frightening. BUT, having been on so many of the other sites I realised that this was definitely a minority view and definitely NOT representative of the majority of the adoption world (it wasn't a British site either). I just wanted to say be very careful if like me you use the Internet quite frequently, avoid sites like the one I mentioned as they are not constructive. Well, it's a quick diary this time as have nothing to report, Patrick (our SW) keeps in touch but at the moment things are really quiet in our area. The waiting isn't getting any easier for me I have to say, I feel quite frustrated that Harry's life and mine is on hold and we can't move forward. As much as I love the time that Harry and I spend together, the weekends do seem empty without our children. We have planned a holiday. People keep telling us to make the most of the last time we have together as a couple, but we've had 'couple time' for as long as I can remember and I would much rather be off to a wet, cold British beech for ice-cream than abroad.
