News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on March 23, 2004 Diary of an adopter Adoption week 11 They say that you forget the pain of labour as soon as you have your baby in your arms. And they say that you forget the difficulty of waiting to adopt as soon as your children are safely with you. I hope so because this waiting is so, so frustrating. As you can probably guess, I have very little news for you this week. But I will say this, my wait will seem so much longer now that Sex and the City is due to end (this is a link trust me). My favorite programme ends on Friday and not only will I miss it for its fashion and 'fabulousness', but I feel that Charlotte's inspiring story has been cut short. I was so pleased to see such a positive role model on mainstream television. SATC together with Friends have touched on the pain associated with infertility and the truly wonderful experience of moving onto adoption. You can't fail to have been touched by Charlotte and Harry's journey to become parents. So frequently television focuses on the negative aspects of IVF and infertility, I remember being bitterly upset when by Holby City's story line of the lady who found she needed donor eggs and half an hour later stole a baby from the maternity department. So well done SATC for showing the world how the pain of infertility can lead to the joy of adoption. I for one will cry when Charlotte and Harry see their baby for the first time. Fingers crossed it won't be too much longer before Harry and I hold our own picture of our son or daughter.
