Andrew acting up for social services

Nottingham City Council has appointed an Acting Director of Social Services.

Andrew Lowe, Assistant Director - Adults, was appointed Acting Director of Social Services with immediate effect by Councillors at the Personnel Committee meeting on 2 September.

Mr Lowe will be acting up into the post while Director of Social Services, Paul Snell, is the City Council's Acting Chief Executive.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Executive Councillor for Housing and Social Services, said: "Andrew has a broad experience of Social Services and knows Nottingham very well. We're confident that he will be able to successfully fulfil the duties of Acting Director of Social Services in the City."

Andrew Lowe said: "I'm pleased to be able to help the Council in the role of Acting Director of Social Services over the next few months.

The Department has had an impressive record of achievement since it was established in 1998 and I look forward to working with councillors, colleagues and our partners in other agencies to continue this."

Andrew Lowe has been Assistant Director-Adults in the City Council for five years. Prior to this he was a District Manager with Nottinghamshire County Council Social Services with responsibility for Children's and Adults' services.
