News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on September 18, 2002 'We were matched through register' This is a reader's response to a story featured on Adoption-net about the National Adoption Register. I was surprised to read your piece about the low numbers of adoptive parents being matched with children via the national adoption register. We were successfully matched with our sibling group through the register, and our children are joining us at the beginning of October, could it be that there are quite a few cases in the pipeline that won't be counted in the numbers officially until the placements are actually made? We were delighted with the swiftness with which we were matched with a perfect sibling group whose needs matched what we had to offer very precisely. I am certain we would never have been introduced without the register so I hope it is seen to be working well, otherwise there may be other ideal families for particular children out there who may never find each other. Maybe they need to ask all the regional authorities rather than just the 12 they picked? Kind regards,
