Have a ball and help funds soar for orphans

Airline staff are inviting you to enjoy the high life at a Hollywood Party in aid of Kenyan orphans.

Cabin crew Jo Aizpuru and Sally Bradburn, from Pittville, Iain Menzies, from Glasgow, and Lesley Lyle, from Montpellier, work for British Airways.

They are organising a charity fancy-dress ball with a film star theme at the Daffodil Restaurant in Suffolk Parade, Cheltenham.

The cash raised will help the Nyumbani orphanage, which cares for youngsters who are HIV-positive.

Jo said: "As long-haul cabin crew we visit many countries throughout the world and witness some of the effects that poverty, disease and war can have on their populations, especially children.

"One country that we frequently visit is Kenya and, whenever we can, we take the opportunity to visit the orphanage.

"The children are put into little units to try to give them a family upbringing. All are well and it's a really happy environment."

She added the orphanage's only income comes from donations.

British Airways has donated two free flights to any part of the US, which will be raffled during the evening.

Other items up for grabs include one of Sir Cliff Richard's jackets, time in a flight simulator and paintings by Kenyan artists Mary Fowlds and Patrick Mang'ara.

The ball starts at 7.30pm on October 18. Tickets cost £35. For more information, visit www.hollywoodparty.org.uk
