Help for adoptees to trace their families

A support group for adults adopted as children opens its doors this weekend to anyone needing help to trace their families.

Support After Adoption is having an information morning at the Nottingham city Central Library, from 10am to noon on Saturday.

Help will be available for those who want to start searching or those who have reached a dead end. There will be a chance to talk to people who have already traced their birth families or are in the process of doing so.

Support After Adoption team worker Brian Whyles, who traced his birth family, said: "The tracing process can be very difficult and time-consuming. Our experience will help people find the right information."

Support After Adoption, funded by Notts County and Nottingham City councils, can also act as mediator when a family is traced.

And there is a continuing support group for adopted adults, which meets once a month.
