Fostering a new interest in the didgeridoo

People across North Staffordshire have been supporting a fostering campaign by taking part in a host of events - from didgeridoo playing to creating a commemorative flower bed.

The musical entertainment was laid on at Newcastle library as part of a national fostering fortnight.

Eight-year-old library visitor Emily Bailey, who is not a foster child, was among the people trying their hand at didgeridoo music. Expert Andrew Fusek took her through the musical basics.

Libraries across the county have also been issuing book borrowers with a limited edition bookmark, sponsored by Staffordshire family placement services.

Adrian Sewell, from the county's fostering and adoption team, said: "Fosterers do a wonderful job for local youngsters who find themselves faced with difficulties in their lives.

"We are always keen to celebrate their achievements and to recruit volunteers." To celebrate fostering in the Moorlands, meanwhile, a flower bed has been unveiled at Cheadle Park.
