London party aims to reunite care home children

The Children's society, formally called the Church of England Children's Society, has chosen a London hotel as the venue for a special event.

People who were raised in care homes in the Cambridgeshire area are invited to a re-union. The Harvey Goodwin Home, in Harvey Goodwin Avenue, Cambridge, was turned into accommodation for young couples and retired people in the early 1980s.

The other home was the Cottage Home, in Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Road.

The reception will take place on March 26th at the Dorchester hotel.

A spokesman for the Children's Society said: "We only have room for 300 guests, so we are asking people who would like to attend to contact us as soon as possible, stating which home they grew up in.
"The idea is to celebrate the society's work, and also for people to meet old friends, see displays about our work and talk to present members of staff.
"Today, residential care is only a small part of our work, but we are also involved in post-adoption counselling and other activities."

Anyone who would like to attend the event is asked to write to Elizabeth Webb, Post Adoption and Care Counselling and Research Project, 91-93 Queens Road, Peckham, London SE15 2EZ, or email
