Support group re-launched

A support group for adopted adults is being launched re-launched this month.

The Notts Adults Group has been running since 1994 - offering people who were adopted as children a chance to mix.

It is hoped its re-launch will raise awareness of the group - and lead to the establishment of more organisations in the country.

One member of the group, who asked not to be named, said: "Some people find out that they are adopted when they are children, others find out as middle-aged adults, often after their parents have died.

"No matter how old you are, discovering you are adopted can change the way you look at life.

"The group offers support and understanding. Members share common ground as we are all adopted adults and it's good to talk to people who understand the emotions that you may be going through.

The re-launch party will feature a special guest, buffet and presentation by one of the group founders, Kay Challand

There is currently only one monthly meeting in Nottingham, although it is hoped more meetings will be arranged in other towns and villages.

Anyone interested in attending the event should call 0115 915 0572 for more details.
