Can't wait to get baby back

The woman accused of abandoning her baby near a Portuguese airport says she can't wait to get her child back.

In an interview with the Daily Mail Katherine Penny, a 24-year-old from Hampshire, said that she was suffering from post-natal depression and wants to make a fresh start.

She also said: "I couldn't afford a passport for Charlie. I reached breaking point and wasn't thinking straight at all. I just lost it.

"But I know none of that should ever have meant me leaving him and I want him back more than anything. I know I need help."

Ms Penny claims that she had arranged to meet with social workers at the airport where baby Charlie was abandoned. She claims she then panicked when no-one turned up.

Ms Penny says she now hopes to undergo counselling. Both her and boyfriend Mark Beddoes face extradition proceedings.

At the moment Charlie is been cared for by foster parents.
