Carer acquitted

A foster parent has been cleared by a jury of raping and sexually abusing two sisters in his care.

The 66-year-old man, who lives in a north west Leicestershire village, was acquitted unanimously of all charges, which he had denied.

He cannot be named because of a court order protecting the identity of the two complainants, who both alleged they were abused from the age of 11 during the 1980s.

Both are now adults and gave evidence against him at Leicester Crown Court. The defendant was also cleared of indecently assaulting a young female friend of the sisters.
