News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on December 03, 2002 Children strike it lucky in contest Foster children will be bowled over this Thursday when they get a chance to meet their favourite athletes and celebrities. Children and their foster parents will challenge players from Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull City to a 10-pin bowling knockout to celebrate the opening of a new £2.2m bowling complex. Hollywood Bowl Hull, in Kingswood Retail and Leisure Park, north Hull, will be officially opened at 6pm when Fame Academy songbird Pippa Fulton bowls the ceremonial first ball. It then looks set to be the ultimate contest as the city's premier rugby and football stars take on actors from Hull's pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Other sports teams and clubs have also been invited to join in the knockout championship. At 8pm, the winners will be able to hold their heads up high as starlet Pippa presents them with the bowling alley's trophy. While the city's stars are out in force, the most important guests will be the children from Hull Fostering Services, in East Carr Road, east Hull. The children and their foster parents will not only get to see the celebrities but compete against them. "It's a fabulous opportunity for the children," said Alan McKenzie, Hull Fostering Services' principal childcare manager. "They will love to play against some of their sporting heroes and panto stars.
The centre, which will be open seven days a week, has 26 bowling lanes, a state-of-the-art video game area, a cafe and a lounge bar.
