News@www.adoption-net.co.uk Story published on August 29, 2002 Deported family looks into adoption option A family of Afghan asylum seekers deported from the Midlands to Germany, could seek adoption in Canada. A campaigner for the family, Paul Rowlands, said it was vital all options were explored to prevent the Ahmadi family being deported back to Afghanistan. Mr Rowlands spoke at a meeting of campaign supporters to discuss the family's case, a week after they were deported back to Germany, where they originally applied for asylum before coming to Britain. Mr Rowland's said: "The family are becoming more and more traumatised by the whole process and want to be able to come back to Lye, because they see that as their home. "We are exploring a wide range of options at the moment, one is to get signed up with an adoption agency in Canada that specialises in family adoptions. "Our main priority is to bring them back to the Midlands, back to Lye, back ot the community and their friends. "But in order to be realistic we've got to come up with a variety of options which would be in the family's interests." Mr Rowlands has made a number of visits to Germany over in the last couple of weeks to visit Farib and Farid Ahmadi, and their children Seera and Hadia, at the Munich Detention Centre.
