Final plea for birth mother

A last appeal is being made for information about a new-born baby found abandoned in a lay-by.

Baby Andrew David is about to be placed with adoptive parents - and social services are anxious for information about his family so they will have something to tell him when he grows up.

The 7lb 9oz infant was discovered wrapped in a blanket by the side of the A614, near Ollerton, on April 4. Doctors believe he was less than 24 hours old when found by a motorist. His umbilical cord had not been tied.

Despite appeals for information and a police investigation, Andrew David's mother has never been traced.
"He is a very happy, healthy, contented baby," said a Notts County Council social services spokesman.
"He is with foster parents but he is about to go to adoptive parents, so we are making one last plea for information about his birth mother or family. We want to be able to tell him something about them when he grows up."

Anyone with information is asked to call Newark social services on 01636 682700.
