Posh and Becks to make charity record

David Beckham is to sing with his wife Victoria on a charity record set to challenge for the Christmas number one.

The England captain is planning to release the single with opera star Russell Watson to raise money for the hospice treating terminally ill Kirsty Howard, six.

The single, Nothing's Sacred Anymore, has been sent to the Beckhams and the couple are said to be "excited and delighted" by the prospect of releasing it.

It is expected in the shops in November and the video will feature the Beckhams alongside Kirsty. It will be Posh's first single since the birth of her second child due next month and after she was dropped by her record company following disappointing album sales. She denied in June she was sacked.

The record is expected to raise more than £1 million for the Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury, Manchester.

Kirsty first met Beckham when she led the England team out for their World Cup qualifier against Greece last year. She also appeared with him at the opening of the Commonwealth Games in Manchester last month. He describes Kirsty as "my little angel" and "my little sweetheart".

It was announced this week that Beckham had signed a £3.5million deal with HarperCollins to publish his "first real autobiography". He is promising to reveal new facts about his career and private life "in my own words for the first time" up to the end of this season.

The book follows Dean Freeman's photographic portrait of the superstar in Beckham: My World, which first hit the shelves two years ago.
