The Fostering Network biennial conference: working across boundaries Saturday 2 November 2002

The Fostering Network's biennial conference will take place in Cardiff on Saturday 2 November 2002.

Working across boundaries will explore the effect that devolution is having on fostering services throughout the UK, together with the challenges of working across the political, geographical and other boundaries that exist in foster care.

The conference is aimed at anyone who is involved in foster care on a personal or professional level. Key speakers include Welsh Health Minister Jane Hutt and Children's Commissioner for Wales Peter Clarke. Young people involved in fostering will also make a number of presentations throughout the day.

Workshops in the afternoon will look at a wide range of issues including promoting the education and health of looked after children, the role of men in foster care and successful recruitment of foster carers. There will also be separate workshops for young people who are fostered and the sons and daughters of foster carers.

Working across boundaries will take place at the Hanover International Hotel in Cardiff Bay. The cost is £85 for foster carers, £145 for other members of the Fostering Network and £195 for non members. Reduced rates are available for children and young people.

There is a 10 per cent discount for all bookings received by Monday 30 September. Accommodation is also available at the hotel at a special conference rate.

For more details please contact the Fostering Network's conference organiser on 020 7620 6400 or info@fostering.net

The Fostering Network (formerly the National Foster Care Association), is the UK's leading charity for all those involved in fostering, with membership including 99 per cent of UK local authorities and 19,000 foster carers.
