Ms Blackman has already called for greater standards of support and monitoring during the process of adoption. During the second reading of the Adoption and Children Bill she asked for its recommend ations and changes in policy surrounding those involved in the adoption process to be strengthened and made more accountable. She said: "In light of recent tragic incidents involving deaths of children we must
ensure that good practice among the agencies on the ground is strengthened.
Ms Blackman, who served on the Bill's select committee, is hoping to serve on the special standing committee where
the Bill will be debated in full.
