Rugby star launches appeal

Ieuan Evans, a former rugby star turned TV presenter has helped to launch an appeal for more foster parents.

Ieuan has helped develop the combination of three local authorities, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.

The Assembly Minister for Health and Social Services Jane Hutt, has praised the partnership scheme by the three local authorities.

"Investment in the Assembly's Children First programme aims to further improve the care offered to children who are being looked after and to bring them lasting benefits.

"Foster carers provide a valuable service to the community by offering a home, support and security to meet the needs of vulnerable children who are unable to live with their own families."

Ms Hutt went on to say, "Foster carers are an extremely important part of the social care network, contributing to the welfare of children and families in their community, ensuring local links are maintained whilst providing a safe and secure environment for children to grow and develop."
