A 58-year-old man has been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual and physical abuse of children at a care home in Wales in the 1970s and 1980s.

The man, from Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, worked at the Silverbrook Children's Home in Church Village, Rhondda, south Wales.

He has been released on bail after being questioned by officers working on Operation Goldfinch, launched in April 1997 to investigate allegations of abuse in children's homes in south Wales.
