Home children await news of move

A children's home in Bristol looks set to close this month - but social services chiefs have agreed not to go ahead with closure until the future of the children living there is secure.

Social Services and health leader Councillor Jenny Smith said the welfare of the youngsters was paramount.

Employees with permanent positions at the home in Capgrave Crescent, Brislington, are to be given new jobs.

The possibility of selling the property to foster carers at a discounted price was also considered. But Bristol City Council is obliged to sell it at the market price.

The home currently needs a significant amount of repair work.
