Social workers to strike?

Social workers in the London borough of Newham are being balloted on strike action in protest at the council's decision to make extra payments to staff in children's services.

Their union Unison says it cannot accept that the council can pay more money to a minority of social workers, arguing that all social workers deserve more money.

A report in Community Care says if staff vote for action, strikes are planned for June, July and August.
