Teams dealing with adults' and childrens' services are to be reorganised and relocated to improve access and give greater consistency across the whole of the South Hams area. The changes include moving Children's Services into one office at Parkers Barn, Totnes. Specialist services for people with learning disabilities, mental health and child protection will also be brought under one roof at Butterpark in Ivybridge. As from Monday this office is no longer open to members of the public. District manager Liz Hitchins said: "This new approach aims help improve our service for clients and carers by making things simpler and bringing greater consistency across the whole district." "The new model of care challenges traditional ideas but we believe it will deliver significant improvements both for people who just need information and advice and for those with complex needs who require our specific support. "We also hope the changes will help in the sharing of good practice and enable better links with other agencies."
