Five teenagers who need a family

These are some of the teenagers for whom Derbyshire Council Council is seeking foster families.

Rebecca, 14, is a happy, friendly girl who has experienced considerable trauma in her life. She needs someone to care for her until she can become independent.

She is unable to live with her own family and needs someone to care for her until she can become independent. Rebecca has contact with her brothers and sisters and will continue to see them in the future.

Laura is 13 and needs a long-term foster home in the High Peak area. At the moment she is living with short-term foster carers who would like to keep in contact with her and will be able to offer her respite care some weekends and holidays.

Laura needs individual attention and positive encouragement. She has experienced disruption in her life. She is now settling at school where she appears more confident and is making friends. She is fond of animals.

Steve, 13, and his sister Chloe, 11, need to be fostered together in a family with older children or no other children.

Steve likes computers, football, swimming and riding his bike. He is quiet and not very confident. He tries hard with his school work and responds to clear messages and boundaries.

Chloe likes baking and helping. She also enjoys pop music and swimming. She is a caring and friendly girl who enjoys school and likes help with her homework.

Both children need a caring secure home where they can complete their education and prepare them for the future. They will maintain contact with members of their family on a planned basis.

Carl, 12, has parents whose own problems are so great that he has already experienced a difficult and disrupted childhood and as a result has some difficult behaviour which he needs help in managing. He needs firm guidance and lots of affection and has a longing to be part of a family.

He is likeable, lively and bright and has the ability to achieve more in a more secure and stable environment. He likes animals and outdoor pursuits, listening the music and is particularly keen on the local radio stations.
