Info sessions for ethnic minorities

North Lincolnshire Council has organised a series of meetings to allow people from ethnic minorities to find out about its services for families and children, including fostering and adoption.

The authority held the sessions following a number of requests from members of the ethnic minority community.

The meetings, with interpreters available if needed, took place yesterday at the social services offices in Cliff Gardens, Scunthorpe.

Lead member for social inclusion, Councillor Frances Delaney, said: "These sessions follow on from a meeting last year where members of the ethnic minority community expressed an interest in finding out more about these particular services, but sometimes found it difficult to access information due to perceptions about cultural or language differences."
