Plot thickens for Roy and Hayley

The makers of Coronation Street have confirmed that the fostering storyline involving Roy and Hayley Cropper is to take "a dramatic turn" during a camping holiday to be shown next month.

It is thought the foster care couple will go on the run with Wayne, the foster son they bought for £5,000 from his abusive step father.

Granada, which makes the soap, have refused to confirm the plot, but said in a statement: "Events take a dramatic turn when Roy and Hayley discover their secret £5,000 deal to buy Wayne is about to become public, prompting them to make a decision which will change their lives for ever.

"Whilst the holiday is a welcome break for the residents, it seems that the events of the camping trip will have repercussions back home for months to come."

The holiday scenes will be broadcast on July 23, 27 and 30 in three self-contained episodes.
