Barnardo's vindicated over ads

Barnardo's has been vindicated in its use of a controversial set of advertisements to highlight the results of abuse suffered during childhood.

Complaints were made to the Advertising Standards Authority about Barnardo's latest campaign which features graphic images of adults who have killed themselves.

But the ASA rejected a number of complaints and accepted that the adverts "put across the full seriousness of the reality of the problems it was tackling".

The charity is reported to have temporarily withdrawn one advert, which featured a man hanged in a garage, out of sensitivity to recent similar cases in the farming community.
