We want to send you to China

Are you fit enough for a trek along part of the Great Wall of China? If so Adoption-net is prepared to sponsor one person to take part in a fund-raising walk for an adoption and fostering charity.

We would like the person we sponsor for the ten-day trip to be involved in adoption or fostering in some way.

They may be a foster carer, or a person who is going through the process of becoming an adopter or fosterer. Or maybe they will be a social worker in the adoption or fostering field or a person who has been adopted or fostered.

Whoever we chose, they will have to contact us as soon as possible - the deadline for this opportunity of a lifetime is January 25.

The British Agencies for Adoption and Fostering fund-raising trek is so far on target to raise about £20,000 towards its vital work with vulnerable children. Some of the money will also go towards a UK-based fostering project in China, Care for Children.

The adventure begins on March 25 and the daily walks will take the hikers through spectacular landscapes and include visits to ancient temples and villages rarely visited by foreign tourists and parts of the Great Wall.

Those interested will need to be physically fit - the terrain can be rough and the trek will include 28 hours of walking over five days.

Adoption-net will pay the £2,000 sponsorship needed for the trip and the £199 registration fee. This covers the cost of travel, food, accommodation and guides.

The person we sponsor will have to take their own spending money and pay for extras such as travel insurance and tips for guides. They must also agree to write about their experiences on the trip or at least be interviewed and be prepared to be photographed.

To apply for this chance-in-a-lifetime trip, contact Adoption-net by e-mail. Tell us about yourself and why you want to be part of this trip in no more than 500 words.

For more information about the trip contact Gary Williams at BAAF on 020 7593 2000, fax 0207 593 2001 or visit the BAAF website or contact us.
