News@www.adoption-net.co.uk This story published December 14, 2000 'Innovative' centre opened A new nursery and family centre, which has attracted international interest, has been opened in Kent. The centre was formerly in St Mary's Road, Swanley, while nursery was based at White Oak Infants. The new centre is now in what was the old White Oak County Junior School, in Hilda May Avenue, before the junior and infant schools merged. It provides a range of services for families under one roof with a team of staff working with children and families. Opening the new centre Ann Allen, chairman of the county council's children and families board said: "The new project is very exciting. The new building is larger with an outside play area which is twice as big as the old site. "The centre is extremely innovative and has attracted attention from childcare workers from as far afield as Holland and South Africa who have visited to find out more about the work we do. "Next year there are plans to set up a resource centre to provide toys and equipment to pre-school and after-school groups."
