News@www.adoption-net.co.uk This story published August 20, 2000 Val celebrates 25 years service by www.adoption-net.co.uk staff A Sedgley grandmother, who has helped to look after over 500 children, has just notched up 25 years of service with Dudley social services. Val Clarke has worked for the Department as a support worker since 1975. For the last 20 years has worked at a children's home in Tipton Road, Sedgley. During this time she has drawn on her experience and knowledge as a mother and, more recently as a grandmother, to help look after the children in her care. Val said: "I think the secret is simply that I like working with children. Obviously it can be challenging at times but that's all part of the job - I really enjoy it." Colleagues at the children's home described Val as a great asset as a colleague, caring for new staff as they join and helping them to settle in. Manager Annette Callear said: "She has a great compassion and understanding, is warm and friendly with a wonderful sense of humour. In essence, 18 Tipton Road is a better place for having Val as part of our team. "We are all very happy to share in Val's celebration of long service and wish her many congratulations on this achievement."
