Radio 4 is planning to run a new 30-minute magazine show aimed at children.

The programme, targeted at eight to 10-year-olds, will go on air in the spring and a central part of it will be stories, read out Jackanory-style with one well-known figure narrating and voicing characters.

New controller of the station, Helen Boaden, said she was planning to harness the power of the Internet to back up the project.
