Working parents 'more confident'
A new survey reveals that working mums and dads spend nearly as much quality time with their children as non-working parents - and are more confident about their parenting abilities.
The research showed that 61 per cent of full-time workers are confident of their parenting abilities, compared to only 14 per cent of housewives/house-husbands.
And working parents spend two to five hours of one-on-one quality time with their children, compared with an average of three to five hours for non-working parents. Only 20 per cent of working parents spend 30 minutes or less with their children each day.
The NOP report, commissioned by AllAboutParents.com, a new website for parents, also revealed that fathers are becoming far more involved in the upbringing of their children with more than half spending an average of three to five hours with their children per day.
And more than half would consider taking time out of their career to spend more time with their children. However, women were not so keen on the idea - 60 per cent said they would not encourage it.
