News@www.adoption-net.co.uk This story published August 13, 2000 Councils link up for recruitment by www.adoption-net.co.uk staff Midlothian social services has joined forces with twelve other local authorities to take part in four-week recruitment campaign for more foster carers. Councillor Danny Molloy, convener of social services said: "We are fortunate that in Midlothian we have a reasonable number of foster carers who are already doing an excellent job with children and young people. "However the number of children in Midlothian who need foster care has gone up and we still need more families to come forward. Edith Spencer, manager of the children and families resource team which runs the foster care service in Midlothian added: "It can be tremendously rewarding job, seeing the children blossom within a secure and settled environment. "Of course, it can also be a frustrating and challenging job. However, people who are already foster carers say that it is the children who make it all worthwhile." They are seeking people from all walks of life and stress that applicants do not need to be married, employed, wealthy, or homeowners. Qualifications are not necessary.
