Can you help these children?

Plymouth City Council is looking for adoptive families for four primary schoolchildren.

They are:

  • Tommy is a seven-year-old with brown hair, green eyes and freckles and a happy-go-lucky attitude to life.

He is inquisitive and affectionate but has been witness to and subject to violence and aggression by his parents.

As a result his behaviour can be difficult, especially at school, although this is said to be improving.

Social workers say he needs a family who can commit themselves to him and provide the love and security he needs.

A package of post adoption support is available and an adoption allowance may also be payable.

  • Sarah-Louise is an energetic and lively eight-year-old who likes cycling and roller skating.

She has a bright and cheerful character but this belies her sadness and confusion over her situation.

She is looking forward to being adopted by a family who can give her the love and nurturing her own family were unable to provide.

A package of post adoption support is available and an adoption allowance may also be payable.

  • Robert, aged seven, has brown hair, green eyes and a cheeky smile and enjoys cuddling up to his foster carers.

However, the uncertainties in his life have left him nervous, anxious and insecure.

The council is seeking a two-parent family where the parents have the time and patience to provide consistent and predictable care.

They must be able to accept Robert as he is and help him overcome his anxieties without irritation. Social workers feel he has much to offer the right family.

A package of post adoption support is available and an adoption allowance may also be payable.

  • Steven is a tall attractive looking six-year-old who is now in a foster home after a chaotic life being pushed back and forth between parents who could not care for him properly.

His behaviour can be difficult as he struggles to understand his past and the uncertainty of his future and needs a family who can give him certainty, clear boundaries, as well as love and stability.

A package of post adoption support is available and an adoption allowance may also be payable.

Plymouth City Council would like to hear from anyone in the south west who is interested in adopting any of these or other children.

It would also welcome inquiries from approved adopters from other parts of the country who may be able to give these featured children a fresh start.

Contact Alan Kennelly or Alison Brown on 01752 306800 for more information.
