Age

  • 2.1% (247) of children looked after on March 31, 2004 were under 1 year old

  • 15.8% (1,848) were aged between 1 and 4 years old

  • 34.8% (4,065) were aged between 5 and 11 years old

  • 35.7% (4,176) were aged between 12 and 15 years old

  • 11.5% (1,339) were aged 16 and over

    Adoption

  • 283 children were adopted during 2003 (by non-relatives)

  • 468 adoption applications were made in 2003 (includes step-parent, grandparents, other relative and non-relative)
